چکیده

-Diabetic Macular Edema disease leads to vision loss problem in Diabetic patients. Early detection of Macular Edema in diabetic patients pave a path for prevention from blindness. Diabetic Macular Edema (DME) occurs when blood vessels in the retina of patients with diabetes begin to leak into the macula region of eye. These leakages cause the macula to thicken and swell, progressively leads to vision loss. The automatic detection of Diabetic Macular Edema and classification of DME severity is done in this paper. The Hard Exudates (HE) presence in macula region is detected and the features are extracted. The extracted features are inputised to Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) to classify the images as normal and the abnormal image severity levels as mild, moderate and severe. Index terms --Diabetic Macular Edema (DME), Neuro-Fuzzy, Hard Exudates, Severity level.

Correlation between Visual Acuity and Optical Coherence Tomography-Measured Retinal Thickness in Diabetic Macular Edema

Background and Objective: Diabetic macular edema (DME) is one of the common complications of diabetes which significantly accounts for preventable visual impairment and blindness. Central macular thickness (CMT) is a feature found in DME patients. This study aims to determine the relationship between optical coherence tomography (OCT)-measured CMT and visual acuity (VA) in patients with DME bef...

Diabetic Macular Edema Detection using Graph Theory and Retinal Layer Features

Diabetic Mellitus is a disease which can affect the functioning of different organs in the body such as heart, kidney, retina etc. When this disease affects the eye it leads to a condition called Diabetic Retinopathy and this disease in turn may lead to a disease called Diabetic Macular Edema (DME). If DME is left untreated it may lead to vision loss. In this work, a method of automated detecti...

Automated Exudates Detection and Grading of Diabetic Maculopathy in Digital Retinal Images

Diabetic macular edema (DME) is a common vision threatening complication of diabetic retinopathy which can be assessed by detecting exudates (a type of bright lesion) in fundus images. Diabetes mellitus is a major cause of visual impairment and blindness. Twenty years after the onset of diabetes, almost all patients with type1 diabetes and over 60% of patients with type2 diabetes will have some...

Correlation Between the Findings of Optical Coherent Retinal Tomography (OCT), Stereo Biomicroscopic Images from Fundus of an Eye and Values from Visual Acuity of Diabetic Macular Edema

INTRODUCTION Diabetic maculopathy is the major cause of reduced visual acuity in patients with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy and occurs on average in 29% of patients who have diabetes for 20 or more years. AIM The aim of this study is to re examine the correlation between the findings of optical coherence retinal tomography, stereo bio-microscopic images from fundus of an eye and val...
